I noticed your comments on audio compression. I’m a nasty purist, and *really* object to it. I primarily do classical music, and hearing radio stations that leave the music with 5 or 10 db of total dynamic range disgusts me. I know that is the norm for the current ‘pop’ flavors – be it rap or whatever. Having a reasonable amount of dynamic range makes the sound more listenable and understandable.. as opposed to just deafening.

Bill, the post was addressed at people that are producing material AHEAD of mastering. The idea being to leave headroom FOR the mastering (or on air processing)…let *it* do the work of sonic maximization. =)

Hey — I saw a tweet by you about using ec2 with Net Render — can you elaborate on how you did this at all?

    Hi Blair,

I’d like to talk to you about getting your permission to use some of your work.

    Warm regards

    Mat
